He was an American writer, poet, critic and editor of short stories and poems. Many of Poe’s works became literary classics and horror gave birth to the modern detective story. Poe was born on January 19, 1809, in Boston, Massachusetts

He became famous for his dark, mysterious poems and stories.
3. Did he get married?
Yes, he got married with his cousin Virginia in 1836 when she was only 13 years old. But she died in 1847 for tuberculosis.
4. How did he die?
On October 3, he was found in Baltimore in great distress. Poe was taken to Washington College Hospital, where he died four days later, on October 7, 1849.
Theories as to what causes Poe's death include suicide, murder, cholera, hypoglycemia, rabies, syphilis, influenza, and that Poe was a victim of cooping.
